While most folks couldn’t wait to give their opinion on the recently completed transfer market, I decided to take the international break off. Now with the best league in sports starting back up tomorrow, I figured it was time to go over my grades for each club’s summer. Feel free to comment, criticize and praise below.
Notable arrivals: Fraizer Campbell (Manchester United, loan), Vedran Corluka (Manchester City), Roman Pavlyuchenko (Spartak Moscow), Cesar Sanchez (Real Zaragoza), David Bentley (Blackburn), Luka Modric (Dynamo Zagreb), Heurelho Gomes (PSV), Giovani dos Santos (Barcelona), John Bostock (Crystal Palace)
Notable departures: Dimitar Berbatov (Manchester United), Lee Young-Pyo (Borussia Dortmund), Anthony Gardner (Hull City), Younes Kaboul (Portsmouth), Robbie Keane (Liverpool), Paul Robinson (Blackburn), Radek Cerny (QPR).
Grade: A. Yeah, the season didn’t start the way Spurs fans may have wanted, but this summer wasn’t about 2008-09, this was about 2009-10 and beyond. Juande Ramos got rid of some excess baggage and the team’s cancer (Berbatov) while bringing guys in his image. This is a good thing for Tottenham.
